ABOUT

33 Maple School is a historic educational redevelopment in Newark, New Jersey, transforming a 1924 masonry building into a modern learning facility for KIPP Academy. The project reflects the potential of historic preservation and adaptive reuse to create meaningful community assets while maintaining the architectural character of Newark's built environment.

Hanini Group completed the comprehensive renovation of more than 60,000 square feet, preserving the building's historic structure while upgrading its interiors to meet the needs of a contemporary educational environment. The renovated facility provides modern learning spaces designed to support students, educators, and the broader school community.

Originally constructed as a historic masonry structure, 33 Maple School now serves a new generation through its continued use as an educational institution. The project demonstrates how the thoughtful rehabilitation of historic buildings can extend their purpose, preserve Newark's architectural heritage, and contribute to long-term neighborhood revitalization.
